MadHouse Project - Supporting Cancer Research And Patient Care

WHO WE ARE

In 1996, Phil Friedman, John Fiala, Mitch Morando, Brad Newcomer and Kurt Shintaffer graduated from the University of Washington and moved into a house in the Madison Valley neighborhood of Seattle that was affectionately nicknamed The Madhouse.  After living at The Madhouse for a couple of years, pursuit of careers and continuing education spread us across the country.

By 2004, each one of us had returned to Seattle.  Feeling a bit older and arguably wiser, we found ourselves asking, “ISN’T IT ABOUT TIME WE APPLY OURSELVES TO DO SOMEHTING GOOD FOR OTHERS?”  So we decided to give it a try.  As each of our lives had been affected by cancer, it did not take long to determine that joining the fight against cancer would be how we would focus our efforts.

In 2005, The Madhouse Project was formally organized as a non-profit corporation supporting the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) and held the first annual Night Out For a Cure cocktail reception and silent auction.  Through the tremendous generosity of our guests, donors and corporate sponsors, we raised over $16,000 for the benefit of the SCCA. Building on that first event, the 2006 Night Out For a Cure event generated $50,000 in donations for the SCCA.

For more information about the SCCA, this year’s event or how you can get involved, follow the links above.

Thank you for your support and generosity.
